Margaret E. "Penny" Nelson | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Margaret Edwards "Penny" Nelson, age 82, a resident of 2820 Old New Bern Road, Chocowinity, NC, died Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.

    A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Pastor Henry Horne. Burial will follow in Edwards Cemetery, Possum Track Road, Chocowinity, NC.

    Mrs. Nelson was born in Beaufort County on June 10, 1932 to the late Ottis Mayhue Edwards and Fannie Lewis Edwards. On February 17, 1950, she married William Earl "Bill" Nelson, who preceded her in death on April 21, 2014. Mrs. Nelson was a homemaker, who, in her free time, enjoyed watching television. She was a member of Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, where she was a former choir member.

    Mrs. Nelson is survived by her children, William Michael Nelson and Beth Nelson Dudley and husband Alan, all of Chocowinity, NC, a granddaughter, Brandi Lynn Nelson of Detroit, Michigan and a sister, Gladys Edwards of New Bern, NC.

    In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Nelson is preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Edwards Baker, two brothers, Guy Edwards and Mayhue Edwards and a grandson, Christopher Neil Beasley.

    The family will receive friends on Friday, December 12, 2014 from 6:30p.m.-8:00p.m. at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home located at 2820 Old New Bern Road, Chocowinity, NC.
