Series of snow, ice storms disrupt schedules on campus

For consecutive Tuesdays in February, winter weather forced closures and disrupted schedules at East Carolina University. After a winter storm brought approximately three inches of snow on Tuesday, Feb. 24, classes were cancelled from 3:30 p.m. until 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

The popular Voyages of Discovery lecture with Dr. Raymond Moody, Jr. — originally set for Tuesday evening — was cancelled as well.

Last week, a storm brought a mix of ice, snow and sleet that prompted cancellation of evening classes Feb. 16 and university closure on Feb. 17. See photos from that event at http://www.ecu.edu/news/ice15.cfm.

And if weather forecasters are on target, the university community has not yet seen the last of winter. Another winter storm has set its sights on Greenville, threatening snow totals ranging from three to six inches on Feb. 25 and 26. Warm weather fans may take heart; however, as the forecast calls for temperatures in the 60s by Monday, March 2.
