    Mrs. Marie Theresa Smith, age 94, a resident of 915 Swan Point Reef Rd. Washington, NC, died Monday, April 20th, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

    A funeral service will be held 10:00AM Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Mother of Mercy Catholic Church.

    Marie was born in Philadelphia, PA on August 8, 1920 to the late James Donnelly and Agnes Schmidt. On March 22, 1941 she married the love of her life Jesse C. Smith, Jr. at Our Lady of the Rosary in Philadelphia, PA. She was a proud and loving grandmother. She was an inspiration to all her children and grandchildren for her love of cooking and devotion to family. She was a faithful parishioner of Mother of Mercy Catholic Church. She loved being a part of the Moms and Pops group. She enjoyed relaxing on her deck, overlooking the river, watching her hummingbirds and the annual arrival of the martins.

    She is survived by her husband; two daughters Theresa Harron of Atlanta, GA, Kathleen Wondergem of Bradenton, FL, two sons Jesse C. Smith, III of Denver, CO, Greg Smith and wife Terry, formerly of Washington, NC, eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, one sister Dorothy McGill of Philadelphia, PA.

    She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Agnes Calnan.
