Forgotten Confederates: Black Soldiers | Eastern North Carolina Now

Maybe we need to read history before we start changing it.

Numerous photos of CSA Veteran reunions after the war show Black soldiers in the group.

I assume they fought under the same Flags.

I found the book in a local museum. An estimated 50,000 Black soldiers wore the gray uniform and were well armed and fought in battles. I say Black because the term Afro-American was not invented until recently.

I also found the book in the local library.

    Correct me if wrong.

The Hispanic population is now 17% while Afro-American is 13%. I will write some Hispanic articles. Actor Anthony Quinn was Mexican born.

If Stan ever adopts the old Emory Professor's 80 word rule for comments, I would have to sort to the trick of the youngsters in text messages. If I were an Indian back in the day, I would burn up several blankets making a comment.

BT: Correct. I would like to see Articles. The Comment section seems a place for three or four lines. Losing a War upsets folks. That may be an article.

The 1850 & 1860 Slave Census show 80% were Mix Race. Many were set free when the Plantation Owners died. Neptune Small was given a large part of the Plantation.
Amanda Dickson inherited the whole estate. What went wrong? I really do not know.

This is a hard truth for others to swallow, I do get that, but American history is rife with the fact that odd alliances become fact in war.

Also Web Search "Confederate Black Soldiers" for photos. Search "Neptune Small" for a biography. Search "Amanda Dickson" for one of the richest women in Georgia.
