    On Wednesday, August 12, 2015, Stan passed away peacefully at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville North Carolina.

    Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Washington, N.C with Rev. Danny Allen officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church parlor.

    Stan was the son of Frank Millard Lander and Emily Marie Anderson Lander. He was born in White Plains, N.Y. His only brother, Frank Lander, pre-deceased him. Stan's surviving family include: Karen Jeannette, Marilyn Cynthia Lander, Mark Edward Lander and his wife Helena, Stephen Joseph Lander and his wife Karen as well as two grandchildren, James and Madeline.

    His scholastic experiences included graduation from White Plains High School in 1944 and graduation from Syracuse University in 1950.

    Between high school and college Stan enlisted in the Navy from January 26, 1945 to July 8, 1946 and was honorably discharged.

    He spent his first years after college in the structural engineering department of the New York Central Railroad. After leaving the railroad, he became in charge of the bridge department for the Westchester County Department of Public Works for 11 years.

    Upon leaving the County, he opened his own engineering company in Amawalk, N.Y. which he ran out of his house for 30 years along with his now deceased wife, Barbara.

    Stan was an active Mason and became Master of the Kisco Lodge #708 in Mount Kisco, N.Y. in 1967. After retiring he joined the Orr Lodge in Washington, N.C. Stan's last wish was to join his wife in heaven.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Macular Degeneration Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 531313, Henderson, NV 89053 or to the First United Methodist Church.
