Thursday, September 24 - AN EVENING with ROD ECCLES! Please join the ENC Tea Party on Thursday evening, September 24 at 5:30 pm at La Ribera Mexican Restaurant for an evening with the coolest, most politically-incorrect black conservative to walk the planet - conservative talk radio show host, Rod Eccles! Another special guest will be our very own entertainer and County Commissioner, Glen Webb.

Rod Eccles is a a constitutional conservative who believes in God, Family, Country, and the right to the pursuit of happiness. Rod believes in the Constitution of the United States of America and that the Founding Fathers were on the right track when they created and established our nation. Rod uses these beliefs when delivering his message on his show by being historically factual, logical, and by being politically incorrect. Rod believes in reporting the TRUTH and nothing but THE TRUTH and that is why people love to listen to him because they know they are being given information that the mainstream media will not report on. There is no holds barred with Rod Eccles when it comes to the liberal left that is why they are afraid to speak with him because he WILL NOT let them get away with not answering his question. Rod is also an accomplished Speaker and Writer. Rod is currently a weekly contributor to 18 different publications.

Thursday, October 8 -- BEWARE of the CALL FOR A CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION !!

COME and GET INFORMED ABOUT NC BILL - HB 366 (calling for a Convention of States for a "Balanced Budget Amendment") & THE ARTICLE V CONVENTION of STATES

Please join the ENC Tea Party on Thursday evening, October 8, at 6:00 pm at La Ribera Mexican Restaurant to learn about the second option provided in the US Constitution for adding amendments - the Article V Convention of States (aka, Constitutional Convention, aka Con-Con). This option has never been used and as the 1787 Convention in Philadelphia proved to the world, once delegates from the several states meet in official convention, even if the purpose is strictly defined (as it was in 1787), there is the very real possibility that something very different will become the product. The Convention can become a runaway convention. Delegates were authorized by the US Congress in 1786 to meet in Philadelphia the following year, in state-led convention, for the express and limited purpose of amending the Articles of Confederation to overcome some of its enforcement defects (such as the ability to collect tax revenues from the states and to prevent states from frustrating interstate commerce). Ambitious delegates showed up at the Convention with a blueprint for a totally new form of government, which then went to the states for ratification. And that's the story of the US Constitution. Currently, the NC state legislature is trying to move a very controversial bill forward - HB 366. HB 366 is a proposal drafted by Compact for America (an aggressive Convention of States group) for states to enter into a compact for the purposes of petitioning the US Congress, under Article V, to call a Convention of States to draft a Balanced Budget Amendment. If the bill passes, NC will be the 5th state to adopt such legislation and join the compact. While a Balanced Budget amendment sounds harmless and in fact, sounds like an important "check" on government spending, the effect could not be farther from the truth. The wording of the proposal, and HB 366, presents some very real dangers and evils, and opens the door, in explicit terms, for additional taxes on the American people. It also acknowledges that the US Congress can, indeed, tax and spend for whatever purposes it wants, which in no way at all serves to restore the legislative branch to constitutional limits. In other words, rather than controlling spending, the Balanced Budget Amendment will end up giving the government MORE taxing power. (The express grant is right in the wording of the bill). If you hope that your children and grandchildren will not be saddled with burdensome national debt, then you will NOT want the government to be given the explicit option under this proposed amendment to impose additional taxes on them.

Now, the bill also provides that the states have to OK if the increase in federal spending is significant. Here is the reality on that provision. If the government wants to push its increased budget on the states, it will simply threaten to cut all funds ear-marked to the states. The states, which enjoy their parasitic relationship with the government, will never vote to cut off funding and so every increase will be approved.

Our guest speaker will be Wynne Coleman, founder of No Convention of States NC (NoCOS NC), who is an expert on this topic and who has been following HB 366.

Please join us on October 8 to learn about this potentially historic and potentially devastating movement that is tapping into the frustration of American taxpayers and threatening to erode our Constitution. There are other options available - ones that our Founders have taught and have promoted - and we will be exploring them in the very near future.

    House Bill 366 (HB 366) -

"The US has more to fear from an uninformed citizenry than from an ambitious government. Government may have the ambitions, but only the ballot box can sanction those ambitions."

Thursday, November 12 - AN UPDATE ON THE NC LEGISLATURE. Please join the ENC Tea Party on Thursday evening, November 12 at 6:00 pm at La Ribera Mexican Restaurant to learn about the state budget and what we need to keep our eye on. Our guest speaker will be Becky Gray, Vice President for Outreach with the John Locke Foundation and contributor to the Carolina Journal. Becky is a recognized activist and an outstanding and motivating speaker. She is a constant presence in the NC state legislature and can educate us on what our representatives are working on and what their plans are for our fair state.

ENC TEA PARTY MEETINGS - After hearing back from folks and trying to find a reliable venue, as well as trying not to conflict with the meetings of other conservative groups in town, it seems that the second Thursday of every month will be the best possible option for our meetings going forward.
