Beaufort County Community College is now providing College and Career Readiness (CCR) classes at Plymouth High School and the BCCC Washington County Center in Roper, formerly Windows on the World.

    Washington, N.C. - Beaufort County Community College is now providing College and Career Readiness (CCR) classes at Plymouth High School and the BCCC Washington County Center in Roper, formerly Windows on the World.

    CCR/GED® classes are offered at Plymouth High School in Room 121 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday through Wednesday. The class is also held at the BCCC Washington County Center from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday through Wednesday.

    "These classes are open enrollment," says Penelope Radcliffe, C&CR Admissions Assessment Specialist. "They are intended to build basic skills for anyone who wants to achieve their high school equivalency diploma or build basic skills. It includes beginning literacy for those who want to learn to read, and it can also serve graduates who want to refresh their math or writing skills."

    Computer training is available, and it all takes place in a comfortable, confidential setting with personalized instruction. There is no charge for adults 18 and over; parental permission is required for 16- and 17-year-olds.

    "We're excited to get back up and running," says Instructor Edith Chesson. "These classes provide an opportunity for students who couldn't make it at the high school level for whatever reason to go back, get their diploma, and move forward. We have a lot of different services to help those who need help taking their education to the next level."

    A limited number of participants will receive a welcome package of educational supplies.
