Dueling Hits – Linda Ronstadt | Eastern NC Now

Linda Ronstadt has Parkinson’s disease.

Linda Ronstadt has Parkinson's disease. I promise, I do not go looking for this stuff but I just found out that Linda Ronstadt has Parkinson disease and cannot sing again.

Wow, what a tragedy. Boy, her voice could save the world or at least that what I thought back in the 1970's.

One of the best renditions of the Eagles song I have ever heard.

    Linda Ronstadt - Desperado (3:28)

I did not know that was a Michael Nesmith song. He was arguably the only musician in the Monkees. Different Drummer is the ultimate 'let him down easy' songs. I am not sure if it is the lyrics or Linda's soulfulness, but as one whose relationships during that era usually ended with name calling and occasional object throwing, I could only wish for such a peaceful ending of a relationship when the other party got tired of all my BS.

But honey child I've got my doubts
You can't see the forest for the trees

Yes, and I ain't saying you ain't pretty
All I'm saying, I'm not ready
For any person, place or thing
To try and pull the reins in on me

By the way, my running buddy Reg and I used a variation of the "can't see the forest for the Trees" warning when either one of us got tangled up with a real "B." It was a gentle coded reminder uttered as prediction for a major storm warning.

'would you look at all those trees!"

Hey Bobby, try playing "Different Drum", from way back in our past.

It is a Michael Nesmith tune (the musical leader of The Monkees), and it is a good song even for singing while playing if you drop your register a bit.

Try it.

I have tried, and now, could probably be able to complete "Desperado". These things take time ... at least they do for me.

Aging gracefully but still beautiful Linda Ronstadt is still an inspiration to many of my generation. I guess I still carry a torch for Linda, but unlike many of the old girlfriends, I never got the chance to screw it up like I did with them. Thankfully that provides me with memories of "what could have been"

I recently saw this update.
