    Gary Lainuard Woolard, 67, a resident of 4643 Slatestone Rd., Washington, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 16, 2016 surrounded by his family at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.

    A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 18, 2016 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens.

    Mr. Woolard was born April 11, 1948; he was the son of Lydia C. Woolard and Charlie L. Woolard of Washington who preceded him in death. A 1966 Graduate of Bath High School, Gary married the former Grace Cox of Bath. Gary was employed for many years by Hackney & Sons of Washington and later was the Owner/Operator of Washington Recycling as well. His last years he worked with MidSouth Metals in Greenville, NC as a foreman. His greatest loves were his children and his beloved grandchildren. Gary always put his family first in everything he did and his love and caring nature was obvious always. Gary was raised on the family farm and was an avid fisherman and carpenter who also seemed to have projects going on for his girls and grandkids who brought him much joy during the later years of his life. Gary was a kind and selfless individual who will be greatly missed by all of those who knew him.

    Mr. Woolard is survived by his daughters, Jamie Lynn Woolard Sawyer (Timothy Sawyer) of Washington, NC; Chelsie Woolard Hope (Ray Hope, Jr.) of Washington, NC; grandchildren, Hunter Grayson Sawyer, Lily Kathrine Sawyer, Ashton Cole Sawyer, and Alyssa Nichole Hope, two brothers, Hugh Gordon Woolard of Virginia Beach, VA and Garfield Woolard of Pinetown, NC.

    In addition to his parents, Mr. Woolard was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Joyce Woolard Black.

    The family will receive friends from 7:00pm until 9:00pm Sunday January 17, 2016 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.
