McCrory Administration Awards Grants To Enhance Youth-Related Community Projects Statewide | Eastern NC Now

 Raleigh, N.C. — Governor Pat McCrory's Youth Advocacy & Involvement Office chose 15 youth organizations to receive a total of nearly $6,300 in grants to enhance youth programs across North Carolina.

 "Empowering youth to help each other is a primary goal of this office and my administration," said Governor McCrory. "Each proposal is reviewed and chosen by youth. I am extremely proud of their work and that these grants will contribute to building strong, youth-centered programs across North Carolina."

 The grants of $100-$500 will serve a diverse cross section of students and young people. Proposals from 14 counties were selected by the State Youth Council and Youth Advisory Council. These councils are youth-directed programs operated by the state's Youth Involvement Office, under the direction of the Department of Administration.

 Special Olympics, anti-hunger and healthy living promotions, and chemo care kits for patients fighting cancer are among the youth projects funded by these grants.

 The full list of grant recipients and project descriptions is detailed below. Project requests for cost of food, entertainment, travel and salaries did not qualify for grant funding.
