Offers no plan to assure public safety

Raleigh, N.C.     After pressure from the public, members of the media and the North Carolina Republican Party, Attorney General Roy Cooper finally stated his support of the radical dual-sex bathroom ordinance recently passed by the Charlotte City Council, which would open the door of women's restrooms and locker rooms to men. He said he does not think the Governor and General Assembly should overturn the ordinance.

Cooper revealed his support of the ordinance after Tuesday's Council of State meeting. He said he does not think the Governor and General Assembly should overturn the ordinance.

"After months of hiding from the press and stonewalling, Roy Cooper chose to side with a few radicals in Charlotte who believe that men should be able to use the women's bathroom," said NCGOP Executive Director Dallas Woodhouse. "All citizens should be concerned that Mr. Cooper ignores public opinion and pleas to stick with accepted bathroom polices. He also offers no guidelines to assure public safety."

An analysis by the NCGOP revealed that pro-ordinance special interest groups donated tens of thousands of dollars to Cooper's gubernatorial campaign, and he has campaigned and raised campaign cash with Charlotte Mayor Jennifer Roberts, who fiercely pushed this misguided ordinance through the city council.

Woodhouse added, "If Roy Cooper won't stand up to a few radical special interests who donate money to his gubernatorial campaign, how can we trust him to look after our families as governor?"
