Governor Pat McCrory has selected Jeffery Foster of Winterville to fill a vacant superior court seat in Pitt County. The vacancy was created by the retirement of of Judge Rusty Duke.

    Raleigh, N.C.     Governor Pat McCrory has selected Jeffery Foster of Winterville to fill a vacant superior court seat in Pitt County. The vacancy was created by the retirement of of Judge Rusty Duke.

    Foster has been an attorney since 1991. He is currently the owner of The Foster Law Firm, PA. He is also an adjunct professor at East Carolina University's School of Social Work and Criminal Justice. Prior to attending law school, Foster served the state for four years as an Adult Probation and Parole Officer.

    Foster has tried both criminal and civil cases in the Superior Court and has represented defendants charged with crimes ranging from traffic violations to capital murder. He has represented individuals, businesses and churches in his civil practice. Foster has participated in major litigation before the State Business Court and argued multiple times before the North Carolina Court of Appeals and the North Carolina Supreme Court.

    The election to fill the vacancy will be held this November. Foster is running unopposed for a full eight year term beginning January 1, 2017.

    Foster earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from East Carolina University in 1983 and a Juris Doctorate degree from Campbell University's Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law in 1990.
