Press Release:

Raleigh, N.C.     In a rare interview with the Henderson Daily Dispatch Friday, Attorney General Roy Cooper endorsed the tactics of activist groups like the Human Rights Commission and the A.C.L.U. and encouraged further boycotts against the state and continued economic retaliation against the hardworking people of North Carolina.

Cooper has avoided public and private scrutiny since the interview, attending no public events and providing no press availability over Memorial Day weekend.

"For a candidate to encourage boycotts against his own state and seek to undermine North Carolina's economic success under Governor McCrory shows just how far Roy Cooper is willing to go to win," said Russell Peck, Governor McCrory's campaign manager. "Just ask any hardworking North Carolinian whose job is being threatened by one of these activist groups or San Francisco CEOs if they think it's appropriate for a candidate for governor to threaten their family's economic well-being for politics. Roy Cooper's entitled to his opinions, but to actively support a campaign to harm North Carolina jobs and families is shameful."

Even though Roy Cooper and his allies continue trash the state for their own political advantage, Politifact North Carolina found that their claims of economic damage to North Carolina have been "false" and "over-exaggerated."

Over the past few weeks, Roy Cooper and out-of-state liberal activist groups have coordinated a campaign to trash North Carolina's reputation and inflict economic harm on families in retaliation for the state's new privacy law. Cooper has since refused to do his job, failing to defend the state against lawsuits and supporting the Obama administration's shower, locker room and bathroom directive to schools. Roy Cooper's allies on the Charlotte city council also refused to repeal Charlotte's shower, locker room and bathroom mandate.
