    GREENVILLE     Dr. Richard Dalyai, a board certified cerebrovascular neurosurgeon, joined Vidant Neurosurgery, located at 2325 Stantonsburg Road, on Aug. 8.

    The addition of Dr. Dalyai to Vidant Medical Group will have a great impact on stroke care at Vidant Medical Center. With his expertise there will be around-the-clock endovascular care for acute stroke patients.

    "This is a great benefit to patients in eastern North Carolina, as Vidant Medical Center is the only hospital east of Interstate 95 that offers interventional treatment for acute stroke, that is, mechanical thrombectomy - the removal of a blood clot from a vessel to restore circulation in the brain," said Ashley Elks, stroke center manager.

    Dr. Dalyai earned his medical degree from the Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed a neurosurgery residency, as well as a clinical fellowship in endovascular and cerebrovascular neurosurgery at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

    He treats all vascular neurosurgical disorders and specializes in the treatment of cerebral aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations and dural arteriovenous. "I am excited to bring my dual-trained cerebrovascular skillset to Vidant Neurosurgery to treat infants, children and adults with aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations and subarachnoid hemorrhage using minimally invasive techniques to allow for the best possible outcome."

    Dr. Dalyai joins Drs. Stuart Lee, Hilal Kanaan, Regis Hoppenot, Lenwood Smith, Keith Tucci and Victor Freund, physician assistants Connie Cerne, Brittany Lloyd, Elwood Moore and Janelle Murphy, as well as nurse practitioner Catherine Lupton.
