    Mr. Samuel McCoy Corey, Jr., age 76, a resident of Washington, died Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Vidant Medical Center.

    Memorial services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at the First Christian Church and will be conducted by The Rev. Dr. William K. Neely.

    Mr. Corey was born in Beaufort County on June 8, 1940 to the late Samuel and Bessie Sawyer Corey. On September 15, 1961 he married Faye Waters who preceded him in death on September 29, 2010. He was a 1958 graduate of Washington High School and served in the United States Army National Guard. He was employed with DuPont and then PCS in Aurora where he retired after 28 years of service. He was a member of the Masonic Orr Lodge # 104 and the Sudan Shriners. He enjoyed golfing, spending time with his friends, "The Garage Gang", supper clubs and the weekly gang night out. Most of all, he enjoyed his grandchildren who he loved dearly, attending many of their activities and sporting events.

    Survivors include his son, Samuel McCoy Corey, III and wife Anne of Washington Park, his daughter, Wendy Corey Farrior and husband Bill of Winterville, his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Corey, Megan Corey, Cori Thomas-Farrior, Morgan Farrior, William Farrior, his brother, Hardy Ray Corey and wife Lois of Washington, his sister, Marie Corey Cox of Washington and special friend, Jo Jo Singleton of Washington.

    The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.

    In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 3219 Landmark St., Unit 9, Greenville, NC 27834 or to the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, Patient Assistance Fund, 1209 Brown St., Washington, NC 27889.
