Governor McCrory Offers Reward in Murder in Wayne County | Eastern NC Now

Governor Pat McCrory announced today that the state is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Deyelle Morrisey.

    Raleigh, N.C.     Governor Pat McCrory announced today that the state is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Deyelle Morrisey. The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is also offering a $3,000 reward and Deyelle Morrisey's father, Gary Morrisey has offered an additional $5,000 reward.

    On November 23, 2015, deputies responded to a residence on Rollingwood Drive in Dudley in reference to a person being shot. Deputies found Deyelle Morrisey, age 15, lying on the floor in a back bedroom. Mr. Morrisey had suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. Prior to the shooting, a white Chevrolet Impala was observed near the scene. Two males were observed exiting the vehicle and going behind the residence on Rollingwood Drive. A short time later, gunshots were heard and the two males were observed running back to the car.
