The Good Lovelies are in the Christmas Spirit: Santa Baby | Eastern North Carolina Now

The Good Lovelies are in the Christmas Spirit, and we are too. "Santa Baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight."

ENCNow
Publisher's Note: We are initiating a tradition here at Beaufort County Now, where we will find interesting Christmas songs, stories, and other media celebrating the holiday season and the birth of our Lord and Savior.

We began with Robert Earl Keen's vintage homage to the traditional White Trash Christmas, with Merry Christmas from the Family and this post will take an almost a 180 degree whirl in a whole other direction - The mellow, melodic Good Lovelies.

The Good Lovelies are in the Christmas Spirit, and we are too. "Santa Baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight."

I learned of the Good Lovelies when they played the Turnage Theater in early Autumn, 2011. I bought their Christmas CD, "Under the Mistletoe," and we began listening to it as my wife and I prepared our Thanksgiving feast. I hope you enjoy this video, and why don't you sing along with the gals. The lyrics are supplied below.
The Good Lovelies "Under the Mistletoe," from left to right: Sue Passmore, Caroline Brooks, Kerri Ough.

Maybe this can be your Mitch Miller moment. Just follow the bouncing ball. If you are actually seeing the bouncing ball, you might should cut back on the early season egg nog.

Santa Baby

Santa Baby, Just slip a sable under the tree
      For me
    Been an awful good girl
Santa Baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight

Santa baby, a '54 convertible too
      Light blue
I'll wait up for you, dear
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight

Think of all the fun I've missed
Think of all the fellas that I haven't kissed
Next year I could be just as good
If you'll check off my Christmas list

Santa Baby, I want a yacht and really thats not
      A lot
    Been an angel all year
Santa Baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight

Santa honey, one little thing I really need
      The deed
    To a platinum mine
Santa Baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight

Santa cutie, and fill my stocking with a duplex
      And cheques
Sign your 'x' on the line
Santa cutie, and hurry down the chimney tonight

Come and trim my Christmas tree
With some decorations bought at Tif-fa-ny
I really do believe in you
Lets see if you believe in me

Santa Baby, forgot to mention one little thing
      A ring
I don't mean on the phone
Santa Baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight
    Hurry down the chimney tonight
      Hurry...tonight
