    Mrs. Rachel Virginia Allen Stotesbury, age 101, a resident of the Wenona community of Pantego departed this life on Wednesday April 26, 2017.

    A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 29, 2017 at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven officiated by Phillip Paul and Lloyd Davis. Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery. Eddie Bryant Harris, Tommy Gray, John Sawyer, Jerry Stotesbury, Jr. Michael Stotesbury, Kolan Stotesbury and Charles Rose will serve as pallbearers.

    The family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday at the funeral home.

    Mrs. Stotesbury was born in Washington County on November 13, 1915 daughter of the late John Herman Allen and the late Lelia Icalen Bowen Allen. She married Oliver W. Stotesbury who preceded her in death. Mrs. Stotesbury was a homemaker who drove a school bus and worked in the school lunchroom in Plymouth. She also worked in the forest service for nineteen years. Mrs. Stotesbury devoted her life to her husband, his family and her siblings. She was a charter member of Wenona Church of Christ where she was a bible school teacher for years and she supported the church and church family in every way that she could.

    Survivors include several nieces, nephews, beloved friends, sisters-in-law Louise Allen, Romona Stotesbury, Cecile Stotesbury and Alice Ross brothers-in-law Jatha Stotesbury and Josheph Stotesbury all who love her dearly. She was predeceased along with her parents and husband by her step-mother: Nellie Bowen Allen; her sisters: Otalee Newberry, Vilma Harris, Vonnie Midgette and her brother: Newman Allen.

    Flowers are welcome however memorials may be made to Wenona Church of Christ, c/o Charles Rose, 7262 NC 99 Hwy South, Pantego, NC 27860 or to a charity of one's choice.
