Music Icon 2017 - Willie Nelson April 30, 2017

There ain't much you can say about Willie that has not already been said. His voice and delivery of any song was distinctive and many times after he covered a song, it became his song. He started out as a main stream Country songwriter and meandered through every genre known to music. Along the way, he spent some time in the "Outlaw" category.

While Willie was never a poster boy for "Role Models," he was a fine example of the American Spirit of rugged individualism. I think it is safe to say that he 'danced to his own drummer.' His new album "God's Problem Child," released in April, 2017 is a reflective and sometimes humorous look at old age and the often recurring rumors of his death. ITunes has it for sale at only $10.99 and it is available on Amazon as a CD for $7.19.

Willie is on constant tour because he has a large group of people who depend on him for a living. He also has his own brand of Mary Jane for sale where it is legal and I guess some places where it is not legal. I also thing that he is only at home "On the Road Again." I suspect he is laughing all the way to the bank.

In 2012 he wrote and performed his own epitaph:

Roll me UP and Smoke me when I Die

In his new album, he sings his response to all the rumors about his death.

I woke up still not dead again today
The internet said I had passed away
If I died I wasn't dead to stay
And I woke up still not dead again today
If you got this far and think that Willie is dead, he is still alive. (as of April 30, 2017 6:30 AM) This is an album review and not an obituary. But if I am still alive when Willie does pass, all I have to do is change a few dates and it will serve that purpose as well. Here is a track by track guide for those who do not wish to contribute to Willie's habits. Rolling Stone Track by Track guide.

Willie was 84 years old on April 29, 2017 and shows few signs of slowing down.
