An Electorate's Need to Know | Eastern North Carolina Now

One of the most important yardsticks to determine the effectiveness of a politician, and ultimately the electorate that put he/she in office, is an accumulative compilation of their votes when they had their one chance to make a difference - the representative voting process. The voting process is the one act that best summarizes the worth of a politician to the extent that all other duties of an elected office holder are inarguably secondary.

An elected politician can effectively explain away some votes; however, they can not explain away a sum of all their votes. It is that simple. The longer an individual holds office the more good they can do, and likewise, conversely, the more bad they can do, with the sum worth of their efforts revealed in a summation of votes, and that summation can be rather extensive, depending on the politician.

The politician, and the electorate that put him office to represent them, are responsible to the community, and wisely, they must choose when they get that one time to vote. Understandably, education is the key.

To that extent, Civitas has provided a compilation of all NC House and NC Senate representatives of the electorate, for the electorate to judge as to how well they collectively performed the task in electing these office holders. If you are interested in such just follow the link to the Civitas graphic, which is a State of North Carolina, with individual links to the associative districts. Just pick your county and click.

Considering Beaufort County's District 6 representation, we have listed NC House Representative Bill Cook's voting record, here below in an image file. He scored an A, which puts him near the top of the list wihtin the metric of whether he was effective as an Conservative. If you are a Liberal in Beaufort County, you have to hate this guy's voting record; however, you may still want to vote for Representative Cook because he is a nice guy. As per usual, it's your choice.

North Carolina Senator Stan White, who also represents Beaufort County in the NC Senate, was also graded by Civitas as to his effectiveness in voting for Conservative issues. Unlike NC Representative Bill Cook, who scored an A, Stan White was graded in the lower register - F.

My opinion: If you are a Liberal, voting in Beaufort County, you have to love this guy, unless ... he just was not Liberal enough. Just like Rep. Bill Cook, Sen. Stan White is a nice guy too, so when it is time to vote for these guys, please consider their voting record, and pick your poison.
