Ms. Sally Midgette "Hylan" Russ | Eastern NC Now

    Ms. Sally Midgette "Hylan" Russ, age 86, a resident of 50 Swamp Road, Pantego, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at her home.

    A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Belhaven Community Cemetery, Belhaven, and conducted by Derik Davis.

    Ms. Russ, who was known mostly by her nickname "Hylan," was born in Hyde County on July 25, 1925, the daughter of the late Charles Mann Midgette and Addie Brinn Midgette. She was married to James Hilton Russ, who preceded her in death in 1979. Ms. Russ was a homemaker who worked hard to provide a good home for her five children.

    Ms. Russ is survived by her sons: Charles M. Russ, James H. Russ Jr., Thomas N. Russ and Julian M. Russ all of Pantego; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

    In addition to her parents and husband, Ms. Russ is preceded in death by a daughter: Gail Russ; three brothers, Norfleet Midgette, Julian M. Midgette and Alva H. Half Midgette; and four sisters, Evy Midgette, Flossie M. Jones, Amy Ratcliff and Clearine Doscher.

    The family will receive friends at the home.
