    Mr. Ralph Gray Langley, Sr., 87, of Heritage Trade Dr., Wake Forest, formerly of Wilkesboro, died Friday, April 6, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

    Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Paul Funeral Home in Washington, NC with the Rev. Alfred E Andrews, Jr officiating. Graveside services will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington. David Temple, Noel Lee III, James Key, Charles Alvarez, Jr., Michael Langley, Kevin Greene, Harry Langley and Matthew Tyer, Jr. will serve as pallbearers.

    A memorial service will be held at Wilkesboro Baptist Church in Wilkesboro at a later date.

    Mr. Langley was born in Pitt County on August 13, 1930 to Walter R and Bettie Gray Langley. He was a veteran having served in the US Air Force in Japan during the Korean War and later stationed at the Pentagon. He married Peggy Rose Bowers on March 25, 1953. He went on to graduate from NC State College in May, 1959.

    Mr. Langley was a member of Wilkesboro Baptist Church. He was active in his church serving as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, Deacon Emeritus and as a member of the Baptist Men where he was sometimes a dangerous man with a power tool.

    Mr. Langley also served as President of the Wilkes Central Band Boosters, was an advisor for American Field Services, on the board of Group Homes, and chair of the Wilkes-Alleghany Chapter of the American Red Cross. Mr. Langley was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend.

    Mr. Langley is survived by two daughters, Melinda L Alvarez (Charles) of Rolesville, Cheryl L Snow (Rick) of Fuquay-Varina; one son, Ralph Gray Langley, Jr (Tammy) of Charlotte; 4 grandchildren, Charles A Alvarez, Jr, Katherine L Key (James), Margaret G Langley and Michael C Langley; two brothers, Walter R Langley, Jr (Eleanor) of Darlington, SC, John J Langley (Doris) of Pactolus; two sisters, Bettie Carol Burroughs (Van) of Benbrook, TX and Sherry L. Summerlin (Jim) of Hudson; two sister in laws, Mildred Bowers of Pactolus and Betty Bowers of Riverdale, GA and loving friend Linda Greene of Wilkesboro.

    In addition to his parents, Mr. Langley was predeceased by his wife, Peggy B Langley, brother and sister in laws Noel Lee Jr and Sarah, Matthew Tyer, Sr. and Marie, Charlie Dixon and Isabel, Samuel Bowers, Jr. and R. B. Bowers.

    The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Sunday April 8, 2018 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.
