    Mr. Preston Vance Koonce, Sr., age 82, a former resident of Bath, died Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at River Trace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

    Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, April 20, 2018 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens, conducted by Pastor Linda Tyer.

    Mr. Koonce was born in Princess Anne, Virginia on June 25, 1935. He was the son of the late Zebulon Vance Koonce and Beatrice Anne Priest Koonce. Mr. Koonce retired as a custodian with the Beaufort County Schools for many years. He attended the Winds of Change Church in Bath. In his spare time, Mr. Koonce loved to fish.

    Mr. Koonce is survived by three grandchildren, Robert Alan Koonce of Bath, Shanita Koonce Moore of Ayden, Lenia Koonce Spencer of Williamston; two sisters, Shelby Squires and Judy Koonce both of Washington; and nine great grandchildren.

    In addition to his parents, Mr. Koonce was preceded in death by a son, Preston Vance Koonce, Jr.; three brothers, and three sisters.
