    The Election results for the 2018 Primary are in. Here are the results. For US House District 3 (covering all of Beaufort County), incumbent Walter B. Jones held his seat with 43% of the vote on the republican ballot; Phil Law took second with 29% of the vote. No candidate filed for the seat in the Democratic Party. Jerry Langley won the Democratic primary for NC House District 79 with 69.6% of the vote. Keith Kidwell secured the Republican nomination for HD79 by garnering 78% of the vote for his party. Only one candidate filed for the two major parties filed for State Senate District 3, meaning no primary was held in the county for Senate. Incumbent Sheriff Ernie Coleman won 77% of the Republican Party vote. Democratic sheriff candidate Al J. Whitney secured his party's nomination with 50.7% of the vote on the Democratic ballot.
