Rep. Bill Cook is announcing that he will file to run for NC Senate, District 1 seat, which takes in all of Beaufort County north of the Pamlico River as well as all of Dare County.

Some time earlier in this "silly season" of election politics, Representative Cook made his intentions know that he would forgo seeking reelection in his redrawn District 6, and rather seek the NC Senate, District 1 seat. This seat is currently occupied by Senator Stan White, Democrat from Dare County.

Remarkably, Democrat turned Republican Jerry Evans has filed, as recently as February 13, 2012, to seek that same seat. Candidate Bill Cook, who won handily against incumbent Arthur Williams, wrested the NC House, District 6 seat from Democrat control just 15 mere months ago.

Candidate Bill Cook will have a primary contest against Realtor Jerry Evans from Washington, NC.

Here below is his press release announcing his intent to file, and honor his commitment to seek the Republican control of the NC Senate, District 1 seat:

Press release:

Wednesday February 15, 2012 at 10 AM I will register with the Beaufort Board of Election my intention to run for the Senate District 1. I hope you can join me there as I embark on another political campaign. I could not do this without the support I get from my friends like you.

The address of the Board is 1308 Highland Drive, Washington, North Carolina.
