   Press Release:

Attorney General Roy Cooper filed for re-election on Monday with a strong record of protecting North Carolina and a promise to stop those who threaten our safety.

Attorney General Cooper has pushed better technology and training for law enforcement and North Carolina's crime rate is the lowest in 33 years. Agents with new high-tech tools are stopping child predators and using DNA to catch more murderers and rapists than ever before.

Cooper led the state in the fight against unfair lending; winning $338 million to set right banking abuses that slowed the states economy and wrecked the housing market.

He triumphed in a clean air battle few thought could be

won. His landmark settlement from the TVA will clean up its coal-fired plants, which pumped polluted air into North Carolina, threatening tourism and public health.

When decades-old practices at the state crime lab were called into question, he dug deeper, and set a series of reforms into action that made a good lab better, and provided higher standards and more transparency to the criminal justice system.

Now a new alert system allows users to instantly pinpoint where registered sex offenders live in North Carolina, even from their mobile phones, thanks to Cooper.

Attorney General Cooper will kick off the 2012 campaign season with a reception on Thursday, February 23, at the home of Nina Szlosberg-Landis and Kel Landis in Raleigh.

On Tuesday, February 28, hell go back east to Nash County where he grew up to celebrate with a re-election gathering in the Cooley Manor in Nashville.
