    Mrs. Virginia L. Nichols, age 87, a resident of Washington died Monday January 14, 2019 at her home.

    Graveside services will be 11:00 am Thursday January 17, 2019 at Oakdale Cemetery and will be conducted by Pastor Mirion Hammons.

    The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

    Mrs. Nichols was born in Beaufort County January 27, 1931 to the late Murphy Blount Leggett and Arley Little Leggett. She attended Beaufort County Schools, was employed as the stock room manager with Singer Furniture for 19 years and was receptionist with the Beaufort County Senior Center for 10 years. She loved God, children, her family, working in the yard and caring for homeless animals. Mrs. Nichols was a member of Snowd Branch Church of God.

    Survivors include, one daughter, Derenda Carol Chrismon and husband Loyd of Washington, one brother, Larry Taylor Leggett and wife Cheri of Tennessee, three grandchildren, Hilary Winfield, Megan Lau, J.D. Winfield Jr., two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mac Nichols, one daughter, Jacqueline Hudgins, one brother, Murphy Levoy Leggett and one sister, Arley Bell Harris.
