Born: August 25, 1927, Died: January 24, 2019

Anna Louise Hanle Woolard, 91, of US Hwy 17 N, Washington, NC went to be with her heavenly Father on January 24, 2019 at 5 pm.

She was the only child of the late Alfons and Louise Hanle of Bayreuth, Germany and was born August 25, 1927. She graduated from high school and later went to work at a US Army base where she met her future husband of 37 years, the late Maurice Hodges Woolard of Washington, NC.

They were married on October 15, 1947 and relocated to Bristol, Connecticut where Maurice had family. They had two daughters; Barbara was born in 1953 and Brenda in 1955. Maurice missed the warm North Carolina weather so they moved back to Washington in 1957.

Anna worked at National Spinning, first in the factory and later in the office. They often called her at work to translate instructions on machinery that was made in Germany.

Anna and Maurice loved to fish, often competing to see who could catch the biggest and most fish. She loved to work in her flowers around the yard and loved to play bingo. She attended Mother of Mercy Catholic Church while her health permitted.

Anna is survived by her daughters, Barbara Jackson (Luke) and Brenda Motteler (Gary); grandchildren, Angela Boyd (Bo), Sonny Jackson and his fiancée, Alison Tetterton, Shane Motteler (Krysteena), Lee Waters (Jennifer), Dustin Waters (Carla) and Misty Baldree (Jason). She also has ten great grandchildren, Caroline Boyd, Katie Jackson, Cobie, Leah and Macie Waters, Killian Motteler, Hunter and Ava Coltrain and Hunter and Trenton Baldree; sister in law, Geraldine Stewart and many nieces and nephews.

Anna's visitation will be from 12-2:00 pm, Monday, January 28, 2019 in Hillside Funeral Service. Her graveside service will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens with Fr. Buckler officiating. Pallbearers serving are Sonny Jackson, Shane Motteler, Bo Boyd, Dustin Waters, Lee Waters and Cobie Waters.
