Press Release:

   Honoring Lincoln
Chocowinity Primary School kindergarten students (from left) Frankie Furlough, Kaleb Barber and Savannah Phelps show off the paper stovepipe hats and beards they made recently in honor of Abraham Lincoln. They also fashioned special necklaces from construction paper, each adorned with a genuine Lincoln penny.

   Patriotic Youngsters
Chocowinity Primary School students (from left) Zikiria Brown-Boyd, Mary Grace Whitley, Brandon Person and Selena Mondragon model the hats they fashioned with red, white and blue stars. The patriotic hats were part of their Presidents Day studies.

   Now Thats's a Hat!
Walker Hill, a first grade student at Chocowinity Primary School, gets into the spirit of things with whiskers and an over-sized balloon hat in honor of Dr. Seuss. Walker dressed for the occasion during CPS's March 3 Read-In.

   Phipps aka Seuss
Dr. Don Phipps, superintendent of Beaufort County Schools, shares a favorite Dr. Seuss story with a class of kindergarten students during Chocowinity Primary School's recent celebration of the anniversary of the birth of the acclaimed author of children's books. Phipps sported his own "Cat in the Hat" costume during his CPS visit.

   Star Athlete
Jordan Hartley, a student at Chocowinity Primary School, winds up to throw a softball as he practices in preparation for the upcoming Special Olympics event. The games, slated for March 29, will feature athletes of all ages, including students from Beaufort County Schools.
