Died: October 12, 2019
    Mr. David Earl Bennett, age 75, a resident of Aurora, NC died Saturday October 12, 2019 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice of Greenville.

    A graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday October 14, 2019 at Dixon Family Cemetery located at 9204 Old Sand Hill Road, Aurora. The service will be officiated by Marty Alligood and Eddie Gurganus.

    Mr. Bennett was born in Beaufort County on February 22, 1944 son of the late Harvey Dixon Bennett and the late Verna Mae Rowe Bennett. He was a 1962 graduate of Aurora High School. On August 6, 1972 he married the former Nelda Faye Woolard who survives. He worked for Texas Gulf and retired after thirty-eight years as an equipment operator. Mr. Bennett was a member of Mary's Chapel Christian Church and also attended Elizabeth Chapel Church of Christ. At Mary's Chapel Church he was a elder, a leader and a member of their Men's breakfast. He also was a member of the community coffee club who met Thomas' barn every day. He loved working on lawn mowers and "going out to Piddle" in his shop. Family meant the world to Mr. Bennett and he would help anyone in need.

    Surviving along with his wife Nelda of the home is a daughter: Pamela "Pam" Bennett Hudson and her husband Steve of Washington; a brother: Joseph Bennett and his wife Elizabeth of Aurora; two sisters: Jean Bennett of Aurora and Sylvia Bennett of Hubert; three grandchildren: Andrew Archbell and his girl friend Megan Elks, Breanna Mackey and Cameron Mackey all of Washington and several Nieces & nephews.

    Mr. Bennett and his family were very appreciative of the help during his illness given by Robby & Danny Carrow, Vidant Home Health & Hospice and Vidant Inpatient Hospice.

    A request of Mr. Bennett was for in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions be made to the David Bennett memorial fund, P.O. Box 1465, Washington, NC 27889.
