    Saturday, June 2, 2012       Palmetto Boardwalk Hike       10:00 am

   The palmetto boardwalk gives you a close-up view of a hardwood swamp transitioning into a marsh. It also contains tons of wildlife, fauna and flora. This hike will begin at the park’s Visitor Center.

    Sunday, June 10, 2012       “Stayin’ Alive”       2:00 pm

    A Beginner’s Guide to Surviving in the Wilderness: All ages are welcome to come and find out some of the best ways to survive in the wilderness here in Eastern NC. We will all work together to demonstrate some of the ways to collect and use the resources around us to survive. Please meet at the park’s Visitor Center.

    Saturday, June 16, 2012       Owls       7:00 pm

   Goose Creek State Park is home to a variety of species of owls. Join us as we search for and discuss these amazing birds. We will begin this program in parking lot just outside the Family Campground.

    Saturday, June 23, 2012       Chiggers       2:00 pm

   Chiggers, Tics and Mosquitoes debunked and debugged. Find out about summer’s annoying little pests, how they work, how to avoid them and their questionable ecological value. Meet in the bug-free auditorium for a 30 minute presentation.

    Sunday, June 24, 2012       Birds of Prey       2:00 pm

   These shy creatures soar in the sky above the park. Join us as we take a look at what makes them so spectacular. Please meet at the park’s Visitor Center.

    Saturday, June 30, 2012       Water Loving Mammals       2:00 pm

   Have you ever heard of Nutria? How about Muskrat, Beaver or Otter? All of these mammals can be found hanging in or around our Goose Creek waters. We will give you great identification tips and discuss each animal’s special adaptations. Meet at the park’s Visitor Center.

RALEIGH: Today, Governor Roy Cooper and North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (NCDNCR) Secretary Reid Wilson celebrated Earth Day by visiting Goose Creek State Park in Washington.
Washington, N.C. – The inaugural Rivers East Advanced Manufacturing Academy took place at Pitt Community College on Friday, September 23rd.
Please join us at the park visitor center on Saturday, October 8th from 3-5 pm where we will host a Halloween Wildlife Event.
