Please Honor Those Who Are Being Dishonored ! | Eastern North Carolina Now

The Beaufort Plow Boys, Sons of Confederate Veterans

The Pamlico Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy

Invite those who hold the South dear, to honor those who gave their all to protect those that they loved from the tyranny of invasion and occupation, to participate in a memorial service at the Confederate Monument in Oakdale Cemetery.

PLEASE HONOR THOSE WHO ARE BEING DISHONERED!

We will dedicate this service to the memory of 30 men who made the ultimate sacrifice in the defense of Washington and Beaufort County.

You're right. You did mention him. (eye roll)

Big Bob: Martin Luther King is mentioned often - www.beaufortcountynow.com - in this publication, so your words once again ring hollow.

The cancel culture directed against Soutern history is outrageous.

As to Martin Luther King, Jr. his famous admonition that people "should be judged on the content of their character instead of the color of their skin" has been cited quite a few times on this site, and it is a good principle to live by instead of the Marxism and rasism of DEI.

To this day there is no mention of DR. King on MLK day in January. Not a word in the BO.

Thanks JMan for your future inspiration here on EasternNCNOW.com to tell the story straight; a complicated tale of great besmirchment, and incredible dishonor for the many who only wished to protect their homeland in their part of America that was theirs to cherish and defend.

Thanks for allowing me to be a part of this publication. I look forward to civil discourse with people of substance, values, morals, and an appreciation for history and heritage.

The history of this Constitutional Republic is complicated in context, while also remaining profound in purpose.

As marred as our history may appear in terms of inequity, the sustained history of this great nation's diverse citizenry is also one of greatness in deeds past; sacrifice performed, so immensely profound, so great in selfless altruism defending our many freedoms yet preserved ... whether we deserve that immense benefit or not ... we are richly blessed.
