Beaufort Marketplace Launches a New Concept for Small Business Growth and Future Business Development in Washington NC
Affordable vendor spaces, community partnerships, and shared marketing create a launchpad for entrepreneurs.
Washington, NC — Many aspiring entrepreneurs have the drive but not the resources to start a business. High start-up costs and lack of experience often stall great ideas before they can take root. Beaufort Marketplace, a new multi-vendor business incubator, is turning that challenge into an opportunity—offering small businesses a place to launch, grow, and succeed with minimal financial risk.
The Marketplace, located in a former Mount Olive College extension building, was born from a simple but powerful idea: bring together multiple vendors under one roof, provide them with affordable short-term spaces, and surround them with training, support, and community connections.
“Synergism—the idea that we can achieve more together than apart—is at the heart of everything we do.” “By combining resources and efforts, we’ve created a business environment where entrepreneurs can test their products, gain hands-on experience, and build confidence before striking out on their own.”
A Community-Backed Concept
Beaufort Marketplace partners with:
Beaufort County Community College’s Small Business Center, offering free seminars and one-on-one consultations.
The Chamber of Commerce, providing visibility, ribbon-cutting celebrations, and ongoing support.
The Economic Development Commission, connecting vendors with local growth opportunities.
Proven Early Success
In just three months, more than 125 vendors signed leases at Beaufort Marketplace. Businesses now range from gifts, art, antiques, and clothing to health foods, facials, and even firearms—creating a diverse destination that no single shop could provide on its own.
Beyond the storefront, the true power lies in shared marketing. Each vendor promotes their individual business and space number on social media while linking back to Beaufort Marketplace. This creates a multiplying effect where every post boosts visibility for all.
A Launchpad for Entrepreneurs
Vendors can choose to stay small and community-focused within the Marketplace, or they can use the experience to expand into standalone businesses. Either way, they gain practical business skills, community connections, and the chance to prove their concept in a supportive environment.

Our thanks to Beaufort Community College's Small Business Division, headed up by Jack Dugan. They have performed a real community service with extensive seminars on how to run, promote, and grow a small business. I would encourage all to stop by and see what has become a very unusual and eclectic collection of merchandise done with professional presentations.

This effort in exposition begins the noble experiment of many years of understanding this land, deep within the Chocowinity Bay /Pamlico River watershed, its essence in totality, and, ultimately, the planning of that benefit to the collective will of humankind.
