    Mrs. Nancy Pitzer Thomas, age 86, a resident of Washington, NC died Saturday April 11, 2020 at her home.

    Due to current restrictions placed on the number of people that can attend public gatherings, a private graveside memorial service will be held at Oakdale Cemetery. The service will be officiated by Rev. Joyce Day and the Rev. Ben Alexander. The family will receive friends at the home.

    Mrs. Thomas was born in Forsyth County on June 19, 1933 daughter of the late Charles Snow Pitzer and the late Myrtle Rosland Neal Pitzer. She was a 1951 graduate of Old Town High School in Winston Salem and earned her associate degree at Pfeiffer College in Misenheimer, NC. On May 23, 1964 she married the love of her life, Rev. Wayne Esmond Thomas, who preceded her in death on August 19, 2009. As a military wife she did work some outside of the home but chose to dedicate her time to her husband and children as a homemaker. Mrs. Thomas enjoyed TV and going to Christian concerts. Her favorite group was the Anchormen. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Greenville.

    Survivors are two sons: Charles P. Thomas of Washington and David W. Thomas of Greenville and a sister: Mabel Shaw of Mt. Airy. She was predeceased by two brothers: Ned and Neal Pitzer and a sister: Mae McCuen.

    Flowers are welcome and apricated and the family kindly asks for any memorial contributions be made to the charity of one's choice.
