Satellite Camp

Southside High School sophomores J’Asia Norfleet, Katie Boyd, Jeremiah Johnson, and McKenna McRoy were among fifty participants from across the state who attended the Satellite Camp (Science and Technology Enriching Lifelong Leadership in Tomorrow’s Endeavors) at North Carolina State University May 12-16.

The Satellite Camp program is designed to expose high school sophomores to a wide range of N.C. State’s science and technology resources while exploring future educational and career opportunities in a variety of fields. Satellite Camp scholars participate in a variety of college activities, including living in dorms; attending lectures, hands-on laboratories, and interactive demonstrations; and participating in various cultural and enrichment activities.

To attend the program, students must be interested in exploring the leadership dimensions of science and technology. They had to submit two recommendations and two essays as part of the competitive selection process.
