Recently, Historic Bath celebrated the 50th anniversary of the opening of the 1751 Palmer-Marsh House and 1830 Bonner House.Overlooking and enjoying a gentle breeze from Bath and Back Creeks, relatives of those involved in the acquisition and restoration of the homes were on hand to accept kind words and applause for their family members’ hard work and foresight into the preservation of Bath’s history.

During the program a portrait of Edmund Harding, organizer of the Bath preservation movement in the late 1950s, was unveiled by artist Nancy Scoble and Harding’s widow Carolyn with his grandchildren Katherine Hall and Edmund Davenport at her side. Northside High School ROTC cadets and FBLA members were on hand to hand out programs and help guests to their seat. They were responsible for setting up the tables and chairs following the program for the fish fry provided by the Bath Ruritan Club. They helped refill tea glasses, dispose of trash and disassemble the tables and chairs after the lunch. Their participation, pleasantness and eagerness to be a part of the event were greatly appreciated.
