    Mrs. Mary Frances Heath Koumaris, age 76, a resident of Chocowinity, NC died Wednesday August 5, 2020 at her home.

    A memorial service for family will be held at a later date.

    Mrs. Koumaris was born in Pitt County on April 26, 1944, daughter of the late Robert Heath and Mary Carliles Shaffer. She was a graduate of Hampton High School in Virginia and worked in the accounting field. On August 6, 1981 she married Christopher "Chris" Koumaris who preceded her in death on July 4, 2020. Mrs. Koumaris loved family, was always willing to give, loved dogs and was a wonderful granny to five grandchildren. She had a crazy personality and loved a good joke. She always made any house a home, which she decorated beautifully, and was a wonderful southern cook.

    Survivors include her children: Mark A. Johnson of Hampton, VA, Juli J. Gravitt (Billy) of Kitty Hawk and Blake A. Johnson of Hampton, VA; two brothers: Freddy Heath (Cheryl) of Missouri and James Shaffer of Washington; two sisters: Gail Edwards (Ray) of Washington and Judy Picard (Larry) of Stella; her step-mother: Dorah Glisson of Winterville; a half-sister: Deborah H. Caton of Washington; five grandchildren: Christian Gravitt, Rachael Reid (Tyler), Dylan Mayo, Danielle Mayo and Skylar Gravitt and many nieces and nephews.
