Mrs. Frances Woolard Newcomb | Eastern NC Now

   Mrs. Frances Woolard Newcomb, age 77, a resident of 91 Harlan Drive, Washington, NC died at the home of her brother on Sunday afternoon, July 15, 2012.

   A graveside funeral service will be held 11:30 AM on Wednesday July 18, 2012 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens officiated by Mike Caton. Michael Woolard, Steven Woolard, Jerry Woolard, Jr., Robert Cox, Jason Paul and Lloyd Goodbred will serve as pallbearers.

   Mrs. Newcomb was born in Beaufort County on September 5, 1934, daughter of the late Fenner Vernon Woolard, Sr. and Retha Gurganus Woolard. She was married to Clarence Lee Newcomb who preceded her in death, shortly after his retirement from the U.S. Army. Mrs. Newcomb was a member of Rosemary Church of Christ. She was a homemaker who loved to crochet, knit and was a beloved baby sitter for many nieces and nephews.

   She is survived by her brothers: Fenner V. Woolard, Jr., of Virginia Beach, VA, Phil O. Woolard of Chesapeake, VA and Jerry W. Woolard of Washington and her sisters: Dera Mae Silverthorne and Sue W. Woolard both of Washington. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her sister: Johnnie Goodbred and brothers: Henry L. Woolard, Robert Woolard and Donald B. Woolard.

   The family will receive friends at the home of her brother, Jerry W. Woolard, located at 71 Harlan Drive, Washington. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Rosemary Church of Christ, 5226 Slatestone Road, Washington, NC 27889.
