Mr. Daniel Franklin Alligood | Eastern NC Now

   Mr. Daniel Franklin Alligood, age 81, a resident of Lizzard Slip Rd., Washington, NC, died Thursday, August 9, 2012.

    A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, August 12, 2012 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service officiated by Rev. Curtis White. Doug Alligood, Tommy Alligood, Kevin Alligood, Kyle Alligood, Willie Midgette, Rusty Woolard, Robert Singleton and Johnny Alligood will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Hwy. 264 E., Washington, NC, and other times at the home. Burial with military honors will follow at Oakdale Cemetery, Washington, NC.

   Mr. Alligood was born in Beaufort County on February 1, 1931, son of Clarence William and Hilda Hawkins Alligood. He was retired as an inspector with the Newport News Shipyard. Mr. Alligood served his country as a US Marine for 8 years. He was married to the former Myrtle “Rosebud” Woolard who preceded him in death.

   Mr. Alligood is survived by his son, Charles D. Mizelle of Newport, NC, his brother, Jack Alligood of Belhaven, his nephews and nieces, Douglas Kevin Alligood of Belhaven, Thomas Evan Alligood of Greenville, Cathy Ellis Alligood, Johnny Warren Alligood and Jenny Alligood Harvey all of Hampton Roads, VA and Robin Alligood Smith of Jacksonville, FL and his granddaughter, Carla Mizelle Marshall and husband Ross of Morehead City.

   In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Earl “Bobby” Alligood, William Thomas “Dick” Alligood and Norman Warren Alligood.
