GOP flips State Senate seat in heavily Democrat district in CT special election | Eastern NC Now

a signal that 2022 GOP wave is on the way

ENCNow

In 2020, Joe Biden won Connecticut's 36th State Senate district by 25 points.  In a major upset yesterday, Republican Ryan Fazio won it for the GOP in a special election by 3 points, a 28 point swing to Republicans.  The district consists of Greenwich, Stamford, and New Canaan. Prior to the election, the national Democrat Legislative Campaign Committee had warned that if this seat fell, it would mean all of the Democrats gains in the 2018 mid-terms were in dire jeopardy.

This follows legislative special elections in Georgia a few weeks ago that also saw 20+ point swings to the GOP.  All of this is increasingly pointing to 2022 being a wave election for the Republicans.
