    GREENVILLE     Rehabilitation Services at Vidant Health will hold the fifth annual "Run, Walk and Roll" road race on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 8:30 a.m.

    The 5K and one-mile event will take place on a course through downtown Greenville and East Carolina University. Registration begins at 7:15 a.m. at St. James United Methodist Church. This event promotes outdoor recreation for people of all levels of physical abilities. The race course is certified with USATF and is suitable for wheelchairs and hand crank bikes.

    "We are thrilled to be sponsoring our fifth 5k and one-mile run," said Dr. Daniel Moore, medical director of the rehabilitation center, and professor and chair of physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. "This is a great opportunity to bring together former patients, families and staff to have fun and support a great cause."

    Net proceeds from the race will benefit programs and services at the rehabilitation centers located at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville and Vidant Edgecombe Hospital in Tarboro.

    Since 1977, the rehabilitation center at Vidant Medical Center has offered a wide range of integrated inpatient and outpatient programs. Through both a 75-bed inpatient rehabilitation center, and four different outpatient locations, specialized care is provided for adults and children with stroke, spinal cord injury, acquired brain injury, orthopedic injuries, and neuromuscular disorders.

    Vidant Edgecombe Hospital has 16 inpatient rehabilitation beds and offers outpatient therapies including occupational, physical, speech and hand.
