Challenges all North Carolinians to take time to participate in Breast Cancer Awareness Month activities occurring across the state

Raleigh, NC: Debra Goldman, the Republican nominee for State Auditor and Wake County School Board Member, is once again adding a strand of pink hair for the month of October as part of Breast Cancer Awareness month. This will be Goldman's fifth year with pink hair in October, and this particular year is very special to her as it commemorates five years since she was first diagnosed with breast cancer.

"As someone who is a survivor of Breast Cancer this month is very special to me," Goldman said. "I wear this lock of pink hair to remind myself every day of those women and men who are fighting this battle for their lives right now. Every time I catch a glimpse of it, I say a prayer for those fighting this devastating disease. I also wear this hair so that people ask questions and I can share the story of how early detection saved my life, and how important mammograms are! Prevention and early detection are the keys. I'm thankful every day to be here, to be alive and my hope is that a cure for this disease is found. I am proud to stand with the over 2 million of my fellow American sisters who have suffered or continue to suffer from this disease."

"I want to challenge everyone across our great state to take time out this month to participate in at least one of the many activities that will occur this month to raise both awareness of breast cancer and funds for research to defeat this terrible disease. If we all join together we will prevail in the fight against breast cancer," Goldman concluded.
