    Mrs. Doris Mae Woolard Godley, age 89, a former resident of Washington, NC died Wednesday February 16, 2022 at Autumn Care of Myrtle Grove in Wilmington, NC.

    Services will be private.

    Mrs. Godley was born on November 12, 1932 to the late Grover Stanley Woolard and Ruby Whitaker Woolard. She was a graduate of Washington High School and a member of Unity Church of Christ. Mrs. Godley worked as a bookkeeper for Smith Douglas Fertilizer until she retired in 1980. She then went to work with the Mid East Commission as a receptionist until 2012.

    Survivors include her son, Stuart M. Godley and his significant other, Deborah Bryant of Wilmington, NC.

    She is preceded in death by her husband, Eli Hines Godley, two sons, Steven Wayne Godley, Stanley Hines Godley, a brother, Grover Stanley Woolard, Jr., and a sister, Muriel Woolard Clark.

    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Unity Church of Christ 727 River Road, Washington, NC 27889.
