Beaufort County's Commissioners met in a special session, May 31 2022, to continue the budgeting process that eventually leads to the ratification of fiscal budget for 2022 /2023. In that session of these commissioners, County Manager Brian Alligood presented the "Expansion Budget" - those items from Beaufort County's varied departments, and the various "charities" from around Beaufort County always seeking funding.

Since the Beaufort County Commissioners were reluctant to act on Commissioner Stan Deatherage's motion to request that the county manager review the budget, and make 5% worth of cuts to spending, Commissioners Deatherage and Richardson motioned many cuts in local government spending, but went mostly unheeded by the other 5 commissioners.

The Fifth budgetary session, May 31 2022, of this 2022 /2023 Fiscal Budget reveals this stated process: Below.

Should Beaufort County's Commissioners fund more projects, while adding to the county government work force, or, should these servants to the People work to cut wasteful spending, and give the taxpayers of Beaufort County a break on taxes, possibly starting a new purpose for their existence?
Yes, please spend more; so much needs to be done in Beaufort County, and we need more government employees doing it.
No, please work to be frugal; more mindful that this is the public's money, and return to taxpayers what is not absolutely needed.
Why should I pay attention to stuff?
