Lola Woolard Coward | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Lola Woolard Coward, age 74, a resident of Washington, NC died Saturday July 30, 2022, at ECU Health Beaufort Hospital.

    A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday August 3, 2022, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Ray West and Johnny Pressley. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Donnie Woolard, Lucas Carter, Steven Whitford, Ryan Whitford, Leonard Lewis, and Charles Windley.

    The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday August 2, 2022, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and other times at the home.

    Mrs. Coward was born in Beaufort County on June 11, 1948, daughter of the late Mayhew Woolard and the late Viola Alligood Woolard. She was a 1967 graduate of Washington High School. On March 15, 1970, she married Clifton James "C.J." Coward, Jr. who preceded her in death on June 22, 2018. She along with her late husband was co-owner/co-operator of Local Crafts which was located in the Wilmar Community of Vanceboro. Nothing compared to her love for family, especially her grandchildren! Mrs. Coward was a member of First Church of Christ in Washington.

    Survivors include her daughters: Lynn Coward of Washington, and Kylie Coward Carter and her husband Richard of Vanceboro; a sister: Ellen W. Whitley and her husband Keith of Washington; and two grandchildren: Lucas and Lily Carter.
