Beaufort County Board of Elections releases candidate list | Eastern North Carolina Now

    Beaufort County voters have 48 days to research their candidates before the Nov. 2 General Election.

    The ballots won't look the same for everyone. Many, but not all, of the candidates will vary by voting district. Voters countywide will be able to mark the ballot for either the incumbent Republican U.S. Senator Richard Burr or one of his opponents: Democrat Elaine Marshall, Libertarian Michael Beitler or one of the write-in candidates. Another race with universal access is the race for Beaufort County Sheriff--between current Beaufort County Sheriff Alan Jordan (Democrat) and his opponent Donald Dixon (Republican). All six Beaufort County Commissioner candidates will appear on every ballot, as well.

    The races and candidates that will differ depending on one's district are the race between incumbent Democratic U.S. Representative G.K. Butterfield and his Republican opponent Ashley Woolard (District 1); the race between incumbent Republican U.S. Representative Walter Jones and his opponents--Democrat Johnny Rouse and Libertarian Darryl Holloman (District 3); the race between incumbent Democratic N.C. Senator Marc Basnight and his Republican opponent Hood Richardson (District 1); and the race between incumbent Democratic N.C. Representative Arthur Williams or his Republican opponent Bill Cook (District 6).
