    Mrs. Rebecca "Becky" Lupton Jones, age 80, a resident of Pantego, NC died Sunday, September 18, 2022, at River Trace Nursing Center in Washington.

    A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Pantego Christian Church officiated by Rev. Jim Bussell. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

    Mrs. Becky was born in Beaufort County on December 26, 1941, daughter of the late Melvin Lupton and the late Margaret Wilson Lupton. She was a 1960 graduate of John A. Wilkinson High School and continued her education at East Carolina University where she earned her bachelor's degree in education. Mrs. Becky was a kindergarten teacher at Pantego Elementary and Northeast Elementary schools. On November 17, 2001, she married O.C. Jones who survives. She was predeceased by her former husband: Robert Beasley Jones, Sr. Mrs. Becky was a humble and incredibly talented local artist who loved her pets and birds and was willing to help stray animals. She was very generous and gave money to help animals in need. Her car always had food in it to stop and give to dogs and cats on the side of the road. Mrs. Becky and O.C. enjoyed traveling in their RV and with members of the HRRVC "Chapter 70, Trav'lin Tarheels." She was a highly active member of Pantego Christian Church as long as her health permitted.

    Surviving along with her husband: O.C. of the home are her children: Susan Nash Jones Skinner of Greenville, Robert B. Jones Jr. of Richmond, Orville C. Jones III of Belhaven, and Tana Jones (Dan Dwyer) of Seattle, Washington; grandchildren: Reid Mizelle and wife Kayla, Brett Mizelle, Mara and Molly Dwyer; great grandchildren: Ryder and Kora Mizelle; a sister: Mardge Etta Lupton Bryant and husband George Bryant III of Virginia Beach, VA; and a special friend Martha.

    In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks for memorial contributions be made to Pantego Christian Church, c/o Wayne Windley, P.O. Box 141, Pantego, NC 27860.
