    As 2022 comes to an end, it's worth taking a look back at some of the biggest names who died this year.

    Here are 12 of the biggest names who passed away:

    1. Bob Saget

    Legendary comedian Bob Saget passed away on January 9 at 65 years old.

    Saget died of head trauma, not drugs or alcohol as had been rumored, according to the family.

    Saget was known for playing the patriarch on the hit show "Full House," his stand up comedy, and for hosting "America's Funniest Home Videos."

    2. Taylor Hawkins

    Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins died on March 26. He was 50 years old.

    Numerous drugs were found in his system and his heart was discovered to be twice the size of an average heart.

    3. Gilbert Gottfried

    Comedian Gilbert Gottfried passed away on April 12. He was 67 years old.

    Gottfried died from recurrent ventricular tachycardia due to myotonic dystrophy type II.

    4. Naomi Judd

    Grammy-winning country music singer Naomi Judd passed away in late April. She was 76 years old.

    She died by suicide after battling mental illness for many years.

    5. Ray Liotta

    Actor Ray Liotta, who was best known for his leading role in Martin Scorsese's 1990 crime classic "Goodfellas," died on May 26. He was 67 years old.

    Liotta died in his sleep while on set shooting a new movie in the Dominican Republic.

    6. James Caan

    James Caan, the Oscar-nominated actor whose roles ranged from Mafia scion Sonny Corleone in "The Godfather" to the brooding father of an overgrown imp in the Christmas classic "Elf," died on July 7. He was 82 years old.

    He died from a heart attack.

    7. Paul Sorvino

    Actor Paul Sorvino, who was known for his roles in "Goodfellas" and "Law & Order," died on July 25 from natural causes. He was 83 years old.

    8. Tony Dow

    Tony Dow, the "Leave It To Beaver" star, died from cancer on July 27. He was 77 years old.

    9. Queen Elizabeth II

    Queen Elizabeth II, who ascended to the British throne at age 25, counted Winston Churchill and former President Reagan as close friends, and became the longest-reigning monarch in the nation's history, died on September 8. She was 96 years old.

    10. Christine McVie

    Christine McVie, the English singer-songwriter who helped launch the rock band Fleetwood Mac into international fame, died on November 30 "following a short illness." She was 79.

    11. Kirstie Alley

    Actress Kirstie Alley, who starred in "Cheers," "Veronica's Closet," and "Drop Dead Gorgeous," died on December 5. She was 71 years old.

    Alley's children released the news of her passing in a statement revealing that she lost her battle with cancer.

    12. Pope Benedict XVI

    Pope Benedict XVI, the former head of the Catholic Church whose historic resignation in 2013 created the position of "pope emeritus," died on December 31 following a short illness. He was 95 years old.
