Legendary Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour and his wife didn't hold back in ripping former bandmate Roger Waters, denouncing him on Twitter as a "misogynistic, anti-Semitic Putin apologist."

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers have famously feuded for years, but Monday's social media salvos showed Gilmour and his wife, author Polly Samson, have utter contempt for the band's singer and bassist. Samson first denounced Waters on Twitter over an interview he gave to the German newspaper Berliner Zeitung, only to be seconded by her husband.

"Sadly @rogerwaters you are antisemitic to your rotten core," Samson tweeted. "Also a Putin apologist and a lying, thieving, hypocritical, tax-avoiding, lip-synching, misogynistic, sick-with-envy, megalomaniac. Enough of your nonsense."

Soon after, Gilmour chimed in shortly afterward to tweet, "Every word demonstrably true."

Gilmour, who joined Pink Floyd in 1967 and co-wrote many of its biggest hits, has clashed with Waters for decades, and the band, which sold over 250 million records, has only regrouped a handful of times since the 1980s for various charities. Gilmour has since said the band will never play together again.

Gilmour, 76, and Waters, 79, are both self-identified Left-wingers, but Waters has long been a harsh critic of the state of Israel, repeatedly accusing the Jewish state of committing "genocide" against Palestinians. He has also been a longtime proponent of the far-Left Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement that seeks to punish Israel.

"The Israelis are committing genocide," Water said in the interview. "Just like Great Britain did during our colonial period, by the way. The British committed genocide against the indigenous people of North America, for example. So did the Dutch, the Spanish, the Portuguese even the Germans in their colonies."

Waters, who posted a translation of the interview on his website, insisted he is not anti-Semitic and accused the "Israel lobby" of perpetrating a "despicable smear campaign" against him.

Waters also called President Joe Biden a "war criminal" for supplying arms to Ukraine and said in a recent interview people should try to understand Russian President Vladimir Putin's position on the war in Ukraine.

After Samson's Twitter broadside, Waters' representatives responded by saying he was aware of the "incendiary and wildly inaccurate comments made about him" which he "refutes entirely." "He is currently taking advice to his position," the statement read.
