Oscar Jarvis “Doc” Webster | Eastern NC Now

    Mr. Oscar Jarvis "Doc" Webster, age 82, a resident of Waters Road, Pinetown, died Thursday, March 2, 2023 at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville.

    Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, March 6, 2023 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home in Belhaven, conducted by James Scheffler. Burial will follow in Webster Cemetery on Free Union Church Road, Pinetown.

    The following will serve as pallbearers: Tyler Almond, Joshua Dunbar, Chris Lewis, Jordan Fitch, Lane Gibbs, and David Shaw.

    Mr. Webster was born in Beaufort County on August 9, 1940. He was the son of the late Oscar Webster and Laura Jarvis Cutler Webster. Mr. Webster graduated from Bath high School. He was a retired dragline operator at Texasgulf. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as long as his health permitted. Later, Mr. Webster wrote poetry and worked at the Blind Center in Washington, weaving baskets, stool seats and waste baskets.

    On June 8, 2002, Mr. webster married the former Betty Lewis, who survives.

    Surviving with his wife are four step children, Wayne Almond of Chocowinity, Felecia Lewis of Lowland, Tine Dunbar and husband, Richard of Scranton, Hank Leigh of Washington; brother, James Webster and wife Winifred of Ayden; sister, Ruth Dorkin and husband, Ron of Pinetown; several step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, and loving nieces and nephews.

    The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Paul Funeral Home in Belhaven and other times at his home.
